When the digital world meets good people we find wonderful ideas like this one. Be my eyes, an app to help blind people in their day to day, help them with small decisions that we have the privilege to see seem inconsequential. A combination of technology and volunteering that has already brought together 56,000 blind people and 836,000 volunteers around the world.
Be my eyes is a Danish non-profit company. Its founder, Hans Jorgen Wiberg is visually impaired, but this has not been an impediment to creating a digital community of volunteers all over the owner email list. The mobile application is available for iOS and Android, and today is not sustainable, lives on user donations.
It is free software, so other users can improve the code freely. I hope tomorrow will be sustainable, for example, with the subscription of services, freemium model, etc. I already registered, do you sign up?
Mobile App Marketing
For months I have been working in Mobile App Marketing, and until I got involved in this world I have not understood the difficulty of taking an application forward. Mobile growth means that defining and implementing a mobile strategy is fundamental, who does not carry their smartphone stuck to it all day?
First of all, we have to be clear about some concepts such as the target audience we are going to focus on, how we are going to reach this “segment” and, most importantly, what our monetization model is.
The strategy will vary based on whether we are a new brand or if we need to invest in branding. I believe that it is necessary to combine actions of branding and performance. They are perfectly compatible. And of course, the ASO positioning will be fundamental to stand out among thousands and thousands of apps.
User Acquisition is one of the trusts that I have focused on in recent years. Some of the most profitable and efficient channels to publicize to mobile application are:
DISPLAY: It can be the Google display network, or it can be a private network. I believe that the important thing is to diversify and measure the ROI with clear CPI, CPL, … Based on these results we will continue to refine the display networks on the fly.
PAID MEDIA: Also known as Social Ads. Here the king is Facebook (if you want to know how to make social ads you can see my guides for Facebook Ads). We can campaign very well segmented to interests or very specific tastes. The power of this social network is amazing, although it is opaque in its way of working.
APP DISCOVERY: It’s the newest thing, and I have not had the pleasure of trying it yet. They are those applications that recommend others. Pinterest does it with App Store apps and gets good results because it segmented very well based on the “pins” that each user has (type Facebook Ads).
